Grateful Dad #37: Dice Game
A few weeks ago, we had the chance to attend a dice game organized by Mommy Khris’ college friends. I know it has been their tradition to have an annual dice game just for fun and have a reunion. However, for the last two years, they’ve postponed their yearly dice game because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grateful Dad #37: Dice Game
This year’s dice game was held in their friend’s house in Las Piñas. Admittedly, I’m not too familiar with the places down south of Metro Manila so it was somehow an adventurous drive for me and a chance for us to drive somewhere far aside from Nueva Ecija.
Anyway, since we were the farthest from Las Piñas, we arrived about two hours late but they had just finished eating lunch. We had the chance to eat and still catch up with the group. Naturally, there was a lot of talking and exchanging of stories. After all, two years of not seeing each other is already too long.
There were lots of good food on the table: cheese and crackers, pomelo salad, seafood stew, Cajun pasta, bakes salmon, roast chicken, beef salpicao, California maki, cakes and pastries, fruits, and iced tea. It was a good meal, many thanks to our gracious hosts who prepared the majority of the food items on the table.
Going back to the dice game, we prepped the table when all of us were finished eating. By the way, in case you’re wondering what a dice game is, well, it’s a straightforward game in which the players will win prizes that correspond with the dice number combination that will appear.
For this game, we had prizes that range from cash, bags of chips, bottles of wine, chocolates, and so forth. The prizes were really nothing grand but it was really fun to play. I didn’t play though because I had to watch over Rafa.
Looking at the proceedings though, everybody seems to be enjoying themselves really well. We didn’t win the grand prize but we won cans of Watermelon Strawberry Coke, boxes of chocolates, a bottle of wine, and other knick-knacks. Rafa, meanwhile, got a big bag of assorted chips.
We were having such a good time that we didn’t notice the time. It was already late and we had a long way to go so we had to say our goodbyes. Just the same, it seemed like everybody was just waiting for that cue, so they also called it a night and bade farewell.
As for us, we were home safe and sound in under two hours. Again, it was already late at night so the traffic was light.
