Grateful Dad #15: A Little Adventure
After so many years, we had the chance to go to Greenhillls Shopping Center again a few days ago. It was really just a spontaneous trip; an unforeseen event gave us the idea to proceed to Greenhills instead of going to SM City Fairview. After so many months of being in isolation, it felt like we were headed on a little adventure while we were on our way.

Anyway, we accompanied a niece who wanted to sell her phone so that she could gather funds to buy a new one. I’m sure most of you know that Greenhills is the place to go for selling and buying phones and gadgets, and even trade-ins.
We booked a GrabCar to Greenhills Shopping Center. Our travel time was just a little over an hour, which was a surprise to us since we were expecting the traffic to be a little heavier because of the more relaxed quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila.

When we arrived at Greenhills, it was so unlike the shopping mall that we remembered because there were just a few people inside. It’s not like the old Greenhills that was crowded and abuzz with shoppers. The corridors were roomy and it was quite easy to move around unlike before when you had to push your way through a throng of people.
Nevertheless, it was the same old Greenhills that we are all familiar with – the same shops, the same restaurants, the same electronics stores, and overall the same vibe.
We proceeded with our business and found a shop that gave us a good price for the gadgets that we were selling. We also had a tablet repaired, again for a nice price.
When it was time to eat lunch, we went to Le Ching. It was our favorite restaurant in Greenhills; I couldn’t recall trying any other restaurant in this mall except Le Ching.
We had the usual pork spare ribs, siomai, and the super loaded noodle soup. The food was superb, as usual. We missed eating the pork spare ribs so much. I consider it as comfort food that’s why I wish Le Ching was on GrabFood or a branch near our house.
We also tried the drinks at Koomi since we’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about it on social media. It was an Australian brand, quite unexpected for me because I thought it was maybe Japanese or Korean. We ordered Avocado, Cookies and Cream, and Coconut Purple Rice.

While I was told that the Avocado and the Cookies and Cream flavors from Koomi were good, I didn’t quite like the taste of the Coconut Purple Rice. I was expecting it to be creamy from the coconut milk but it was a little too tangy for my taste buds like maybe they used coconut water instead of coconut milk. The sticky purple rice reminded me of puto bumbong though, which was quite delightfully chewy.
After that satisfying lunch, a little stroll was needed to keep us awake. We found a shop that sold imported items so we bought Ritz Cheese Cream Sandwich, Butterfinger Bites, and some bags of chips.

I do love Ritz Cheese Cream Sandwich since I first tasted it in 2008. It was given to me by the aunt of a friend and former colleague who happened to be a cheese lover like me. I remember that Ritz was only available in S&R that’s why I don’t really get to taste it often.
We also bought toys and shirts for our kids. We also wanted to buy them pants but there were only a handful of designs available for toddlers and they didn’t look like they were of good quality.
By 4:00 PM, we were on our way home. The kids were playing in the front yard when we arrived home.
